Oil Pastel and Burnt Lines -Ridge Rabbit

Oil pastel is mixed directly upon the illustration board and then the lines are burnt into the illustration board to get that clean line I like.  The colour mixing is always a challenge as it must be done directly on the illustration board.

Here stands a Guardian of the Ridge looking to come down onto the Gazebo Bunny back yard.

The "Life Puzzle Series: Stages of Man" has come home from its debut at the Headwaters Arts Festival Art Show.  I had used my traditional  pyrographic lines and fluid acrylic paint to create what I had hoped were bold statements in the show.  The Judge at the juried show had indicated that they had a Magritte quality about them.  Hmmm!? Chasing Choices Hunger for Acceptance  Loves Labours Lost or Won Preparation for Battle Awaiting Godot Coins for Charon The series almost has to be sold as a series and who's going to do that? It's getting hard to know what the public will buy.  This has become a concern for many of the artists.  No one seems to have an answer as to why art sales are down.

Mannie has Time on Her Hands and So Makes Quilting Yo-Yos

Mannie makes many of her art/isan items while watching tv.  Quilting Yo-Yos became the latest endeavour. She started with a square-or a circle -or a hexagon piece of her own dyed material.  Then there is this folding, origami, quilting thing she does. And then, she adds a button, beads or thingamabob to the centre. voila!! Then she adds them to her other creations.  More later.

A Secret to Art Success -a Little Work Each Day

Each day Mannie works a little on some new work of art, or fixes another or prepares one for display.  Presently she has yet another item to work upon in the family room, while she watches tv.  Me I can't do that  -I need to work in the studio and thus I don't accomplish as much. One secret to progressing in your work is to do something on your art works each day.  I will need to set aside the time -no matter what. Here is yet another of Mannie's works in progress as she works in the family room.
