Mannie's Coiled Baskets on Display

Image
Mannie just got in from being the artist on duty at the show and sale at Maggiolly in Orangeville, Ontario.  Twelve artists are showcasing their work until the new year.  Mannie made a number of coil baskets for this show.  She has been busy this year making them.  When New Years  arrives Mannie will have been in 8 shows and sales in 2014.

Cottage Art Pics Found

Image
On the cottage boathouse we had had the roof redone over the winter. Despite lifting the boat house up higher than before we still had some sharp edges at the corners of the roof.  Thus, I cut and chiselled out fish shapes to handle the 2 inch over hang.  When done, burnt and painted I screwed them under the roof and to the face board.  The water runs off and the sharp corner edges will not hurt nor rip pontoon boats with bimini tops that come to dock.  I kept the solidity of the 2" by 6" so it would not be knocked down and in order that they fit flush to the face board. Mannie took these pictures and then she could not find them on her iPad -and she did hunt for them.  Today, there they were and so I uploaded them as fast as I could. And, looking at them, I realize cottage time is closer with each passing day.

Can’t get much more Canadian than this.  Very cleverly done!    I wonder who thinks these things up? www.youtube.com/embed/Gw8P8L1LfDM?rel=

Out at Another Show

Image
Today Mannie and I were at yet another show and sale in which we are participating.  Mannie and her fabric art and me with my pyro/pastels.  We met a number of our colleagues at the reception and had lovely chats -catching up on stuff.  I think these things are often a social affair.  Many times there are more artists present than the general public viewers.

Artisan Show and Sale at the Pasman's

Image
Over one weekend Mannie and I were in a show and sale with about 20 other artisans.  The Pasmans have been holding this show and sale for a number of years now and it gets quite the traffic. I put in some of my character boxes. Mannie put in booklets... and more booklets... and scissor holders and more character boxes.
