Little by little the details tell the story.

Time has flown since I last posted.  Life just got in the way.  Other than the mural, I have not done a lot of art work and sorrily need to get back working. Nevertheless, the mural project has finished and I am posting the last few pages of the graphic novel depicting it completion.

In between mural work I have been busy making sets of flower buttons. The small size has its challenges.  I had done a set of cat and rose buttons for the button society.  For display and sale I have put them onto cards.

March 23 saw Donna, Manuela and Peter working on the school mural.  Figures by Donna are taking shape.

We continue work on the school mural with Donna beginning the paining of the children within.

The 40+ foot mural at a local school will take some time to do.  The base was done in what seemed to have been done quickly.  Now the painting is going along at a rather slow pace.  The composition is constantly changing and so is the technical painting parts. I am there....I'm the one taking the pictures.

Four Riverbend Artist showed up March 2 to work on the 40+ foot mural.  And work they did as noted by the comic pages attached here.  The mural will represent 4 seasons with a whimsical theme.

Manuela and I, as part of the Riverbend Artists of Grand Valley Mural Committee, were part of the work crew (at present with Donna) drawing and painting the mural on a local school's library alcove wall.  Donna did the concept work used as the template as you will see and we three made a presentation to the school's parent/teacher committee after input from teachers, students and parents.

Mannie and I enjoyed the experience of the grand idea -a Community Information Centre, Museum and Gallery.  As this was a 150th Canada Birthday project for the town of Grand Valley funding ran out in December and was not renewed.  The Economic Development Committee will look at it further in relationship to its Tourism and Business potential. Hopefully Mannie and I along with our Riverbend Artists' group will be part of any new endeavour.

Merry Christmas everyone.  🎅 As usual,   I can't help myself -I like this fun Christmas card based on a classic golden oldie's version of "White Christmas." I also like the animation from Joshua Held of the UK.

Life has been busy and art work has taken a back seat.  I need to re-evaluate this.  But I did get a small pyrographic/fluid acrylic painting done in the last week.  There are these rock formations in the Canadian shield that are most unique. Lines are burnt into the wood panel and then painted with fluid acrylic paints.

In the small town where the Riverbend Artists work and show their art, the town council, the Historical Society and the artists collaborated to create a Community Information Centre, Museum and Gallery as a place for residents to meet and see the arts and the history of the town.  Residents of the town brought in their memorabilia, the artists displayed their art work, and the town provided a place to pick up information about events in the community.  Art work changed throughout the time period and residents brought in and then took out their memorabilia as themes changed.  The artists created and put up a display system used by all.  Volunteers managed the Centre.  Since July 1st, 2017 in excess of 1500 visitors from all over the province of Ontario, other Canadian Provinces, Europe, USA,  came for a visit. the Riverbend Artists held a show and sale July 1st and 400 visitors came into the Centre -without advertising.  The Artists just finished  ...

As members of the Riverbend Artists Mannie and I are involved in: And the rose buttons I have made are now present at the Yuletide Show and Sale in Grand Valley, Ontario.  Some of the buttons have already been sold and I am not sure which ones until I see what I have left at the Show, Apparently the pinks are all gone. A friend from the art groups we belong to sold the buttons $18 Cn to members of a button club. I have found doing theses 1" buttons a challenge for the burning and for the dynamic look for such a small item.

Mannie and I embarked on creating studio buttons for button collectors.  A friend of ours had asked us to do some samples to take to a button collector' meeting where they were well received and even sold.  So in our time Mannie and I created sets of studio buttons.  Me, I created a series around roses -wild, tea, bud, red, white, pink and yellow.  Mannie embellished material with beading, etc to produce her fabric art studio buttons. Base button is metal snap together with shank. These are 1" wooden buttons with added shank and signature. The images are first burnt onto the button then painted with fluid acrylic paints.

One day, during daylight hours, a wolf ran beside my van on the road by my house.  Abruptly he stopped and smugly smiled with a twinkle in his blue eyes.  He was no starving fellow and the bulk looked good on him. I'm still not sure why he ran beside the van but the knowing smile and blue eyes have stayed with me. At dusk you can hear the wolves howling across the river, and sometimes it is as though they were in my yard near the pond.
